Deep Dive
1) When does a surface fascinate you?
When it’s authentic. This can be a reproduction of a natural original, but also an artificially generated surface.
2) What kind of surface design do you miss?
A "perfect" metallic finish. Does such a thing even exist in reproduction?
3) One room. One surface. What do you choose?
Today? Without a doubt – an elegant, natural oak. Why? Its natural quality creates a sense of well-being and relaxes me.
4) What is your vision of future surface design?
Will designs still be printed on paper? No! Do new technologies contribute to sustainability, and can they influence design? Yes! Surfaces that, much like lighting systems, allow users to make individual adjustments (moods, spaces, times of day) – and that already come with the right texture (who needs press plates or texture applicators?). Appealing to the senses will become increasingly important.
