Studio Experiments: Material Meets Imagination

Inside the OpenHouse exhibition space, the U.S. design team is showcasing bodies of work that reflect months of exploration and experimentation. Our materials studio has evolved into a space where traditional craftsmanship intersects with unconventional thinking. An environment fueled by curiosity and a drive to push creative boundaries.

One of the highlights now on display is a series of prints made from the stems of Jerusalem artichokes (sunchokes). The process begins by splitting, flattening, and dyeing the fibers before pressing them under a veneer press, revealing a striking way to print directly with the material itself. The resulting organic patterns are then digitally captured and transformed into new visual compositions, merging the rawness of nature with the precision of technology.

Beyond this, the team continues to work on countless experiments with veining effects in concrete, testing alternative surface materials such as lime render, micro concrete and resins to produce unique and unexpected designs. Each process builds upon another, adding new textures and depth to the studio’s creative toolkit.

These experiments represent more than technique. They embody a mindset. A willingness to test, to fail, to discover. The OpenHouse invites visitors to experience this spirit firsthand and see how curiosity continues to shape the ideas and designs that define Interprint’s creative journey.
